Nightshade. With a name like that, you know this special edition 4Runner is going to be cool. Late last month, at the State Fair of Texas, Toyota debuted three new options for 2019 models: 4Runner Nightshade Special Edition and SX Packages on the Tacoma and Tundra. All three packages add fierce style without a hefty price tag.

Nightshade is only available on the 2019 4Runner Limited and it adds a little mystique thanks to its dark features. Black accents are all over the 4Runner on the front and rear bumper spoilers, door handles and outer mirrors, window moldings, door garnish, rocker panels, badging and roof rails. Black chrome moldings are fitted on the grille slots up front and the exhaust tips in back as well. The exterior is completed with sleek black 20-inch wheels.

Inside, the black accents continue on the steering wheel, shift knob and shifter panel, center cluster and console panels and inner door grips.

Nightshade is available on 4x2 and 4x4 Limited models for an extra $1,740. It’s available now in the following exterior colors: Midnight Back Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic and Blizzard Pearl.

The SX Package on the 2019 Tacoma continues the trend of all black everything. It’s based on the SR grade and is available on Access Cab models in both 4x2 and 4x4.

The SX’s blackout treatment is evident on the badging, mirror caps, grille, over fenders, headlamps and door handles and it adds 16-inch matte black alloy wheels.

The SX Package is available for an extra $560 in the following exterior colors: Midnight Black Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Silver Metallic, Super White, Quicksand and Barcelona Red.

The SX Package on the Tundra has a streamlined look because there’s no exterior badging. The color-keyed front grille surrounds, front bumper end caps and rear bumper have been added for a uniform appearance. Eighteen-inch black alloy wheels finish off the exterior while front bucket seats give added comfort inside.

The Tundra with SX Package is available on the SR5 grades in 4x2 and 4x4 for an extra $1,630. It’s already at dealerships in Midnight Black Metallic, Super White and Barcelona Red Metallic.
