Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, many Americans are struggling to adapt to this new way of life. With business closures, layoffs and shortages, many have been struggling to make ends meet. Students and teachers have been forced to take classes online and completely change their routines. Essential workers like doctors, nurses and patient care technicians have been working tirelessly to provide care, even with shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE). Toyota North America is aware of these struggles, and they’re dedicated to doing their part during this difficult time. Here are some of Toyota's ongoing relief efforts:

PPE Donations

Toyota has donated thousands of gloves, cotton swabs, safety glasses, and other supplies from our manufacturing and parts distribution centers across the U.S. to help protect those on the front lines. Additionally, Toyota's TILT Lab is partnering closely with our R&D, Engineering and Toyota AI Ventures teams to create face shields and visors. So far, they have donated over 500,000 faceshields to frontline healthcare workers.

Donations to Non-Profit Organizations

The Toyota USA Foundation has awarded $2.5 million in grants to non-profit organizations supporting COVID-19 relief. These funds address critical needs such as food assistance and e-learning for youth. Here are some of the grants they issued:

  • Salvation Army: $500,000

  • United Way: $500,000

  • Local food bank donations in 12 states: $800,000

  • Girls Who Code e-learning program: $125,000

  • Science Buddies e-learning program: $200,000
